Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club Endorsement Meeting - August 9, 2004, The Charles M. Holmes Campus at The Center

Over fifty community supporters turned out to encourage voting members of the Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club to support the PAC recommendation to endorse Miguel for District 9 Supervisor. While we fell a few votes short of the full endorsement, we still managed to secure the endorsement of the Alice B. Toklas LGBT Political Action Committee and at the same time showed that Miguel has a very diverse base of supporters.

Los Jarritos Restaurant Fiesta Fundraiser - August 4, 2004, District 9

Old and new supporters of all ages poured into this historic Mission District landmark to help support the campaign to elect Miguel Bustos as the new Supervisor of District 9. Proprietors Dolores (Josie) and Francisco Reyes hosted over 50 guests to come and talk to Miguel about their shared vision for the district.

This was incredible opportunity for the LGBT community to come together to show a united effort in support of Miguel's campaign to bring voice to many facets of the under-represented LGBT community.

Miguel Bustos Headquarter Open House - July 31, 2004, Headquarters - 2929 24 th Street, District 9

The Campaign House that the Community Built was an Open House for the Miguel Bustos Campaign Headquarters, where District 9 Family and Friends were invited to come and celebrate the opening of our campaign headquarters in the heart of the district. The Bustos Campaign headquarters is located at the original and historic CHINA BOOKS BUILDING . China Books & Periodicals is America 's largest and oldest distributor of books, periodicals and other cultural products from China . Guests had the opportunity to come by, register to vote, meet Miguel, learn about the campaign, pick up a window sign and become volunteers.

Bustos Volunteer Rally - August 21, 2004, Bustos for Supervisor Headquarters

With over 50 people in attendance, the Bustos Volunteer Rally was an important opportunity to meet other volunteers, learn more about our campaign and learn what each person can do to help our District win! Residents from the Portola, Mission , St. Mary's Park, Holly Park and Bernal Heights came to sign up to volunteer and take house sign to put up in their neighborhood. The Guardian Angels also came by to meet with people in the community and let them know that they are here to help make the neighborhood safe for everyone. Miguel thanked them for their dedication to the community and welcomed them back.

El Tecolote Newspaper 34 th Anniversary Party - August 21, 2004 - 2958 24 th Street , District 9

Reporting on issues important to the community for the past 34 years, El Tecolote Newspaper invited everyone to celebrate this important milestone. Our neighbors across the street put on a terrific party with traditional Aztec dancers and many community notables.
